This year I have been working hard at improving my self through many different aspects. I am experimenting in minimalism, I have started blogging more often, and I have been discussing more with the people around me on what I need to improve. Part of what I am doing to improve my self is selecting the right inputs (things that add information to my brain) trying to cut out the ones that don’t add value to me and finding others that do.
In this post I will be discussing inputs that help me improve my self and not ones that are related to entertainment.
There are so many inputs that have made me who I am today, and there is a ton of inputs that I am still reviewing and deciding if I should allow in my life or not. I am focusing on today some of ‘best’ inputs in a few different categories.
Health and Fitness is one of the things that everyone has an opinion on and many of those opinions are right and many are wrong. Trying to sift through the mass amounts of information to find good sources is a difficult task. That is one reason why Nerd Fitness is an input for me. They look at fitness in a unique way questioning everything and present it in a fun way. I find their articles entertaining and they help me question the status quo.
I am still learning how to add more intentionality to my life so this may change a lot in the future. Currently it is The Minimalists. Their stories are inspiring and they explain the benefits and concepts extraordinarily well.
Figuring out how to communicate this section has been difficult. Here is an attempt: In my interactions I want to act in a way that adds value to everyone I interact with. This means first I will not take away value (hurting, detracting, or belittling) and it also means that I will add value (helping, providing honest feedback, showing others their value/building up). This is probably the hardest thing for me to do, I still have tons to learn. Bruxy Cavey at The Meeting House is one of my sources even though he is an amazing communicator he actually gets most of his content from the Bible, which is my central source.
The End Of The List
So the above list is a short list. It is not comprehensive and is missing many aspects of my life. So this paragraph is a disclaimer saying that I am missing many things on the list.
This list is intended to provide a list of sources that I use that others can also use, however it is missing some of the biggest sources in my life… Those sources are my friends, colleagues, and family. I have decided not to include the names of those influential people because that would not add value to your life. I also don’t want to belittle the people I wouldn’t explicitly mention.
